"Learning" is so last year

Isn't the concept of learning tied to traditional societies, where growing up was a matter of mastering your parents' skills? To learn something, after all, is to pick up stuff that somebody has already laid out for you.

Facilitering, USA-Danmark, Open Space

Facilitering betyder noget andet i USA end i Danmark, for derovre har de ikke haft 40 år med rundkredspædagogik og selvorganisering og kollektiv ledelse.

At komme væk fra de autoritære, stive former er stadig en stor ting i USA (og i andre kulturer med traditionel ledelse), og det er dét, facilitering bliver brugt til: At åbne op, at give plads til alle, at inkludere og skabe lighed.

Men i Danmark (måske Skandinavien) har vi lige siden ungdomsoprøret kendt til de åbne møder med demokratiske processer, hvor alle har ret til at tale og det tager en evighed.

Let me put down this idea: Facilitation as a tool for conducting meetings, conferences and other social gatherings may be combined with the humanistic perspective of positive psychology to provide an important aspect of a theory of social organizing.

Beyond anti-essentialism in psychology

A strong trend in modern psychology is anti-essentialism. Drawing on post-structuralism and social constructionism, it posits that people do not have fixed and unitary selves, no essential or universal natures. Instead, multiples selves emerge and play out positions in various contexts and discourses; selves are constructed (Foucault, Harré, Gergen). The existential and humanistic psychologies of yesteryear are said to postulate such an unchanging self or person.

That’s all very well. Of course there is no fixed self.

Facilitering - hinsides Kaj Holger-ledelse og gruppedynamik

Selvorganiserende grupper var ungdomsoprørets alternativ til autoritære ledelsesformer. Men projektgruppen på RUC og personalemødet i den venstreorienterede børnehave trækker tænder ud. Når ingen styrer og alle skal bestemme, tager det meeeeget lang tid.

Facilitering er en tredje vej mellem rundkredsdemokrati og patriarkalsk Kaj Holger-ledelse.
